Dan Mocanu is a growth strategist, executive coach and business mentor based in Bucharest, and one of the most consistent voices for Blue Ocean Strategy and Value Innovation in Romania. He helps companies turn into finely tuned orchestras, orchestrating radical and profitable growth through Growth by Design, the “one-stop growth system” he co-founded.

He created the Orchestra Method, a “music score” approach that aligns strategy and execution so that every part of an organization plays in tune. Through his consultancy Leap Forward, the Blue Zygote Inception Lab and his role as Eastern Europe lead for Blue Ocean CITY, he applies Blue Ocean Strategy to companies, industries and even cities and regions, guiding them from competition to trendsetting.

His path is unusual for a strategist. Before returning to Romania he spent years in the United States, at Microsoft in Redmond and as an instructor of physics and mathematics in Seattle. Since then he has founded Aperio Executive Coaching, served as Vice President of the Romanian Coaching Association, represented entrepreneurs on the board of the American Chamber of Commerce in Romania, and mentored founders at Romanian Business Leaders and the InnovX accelerator. He teaches Value Innovation as associate faculty and guest lecturer at the Romanian-American University and the Bucharest University of Economic Studies.

For his transformative impact on entrepreneurship and his strategic support to the Royal Foundation, Her Majesty Margareta, Custodian of the Romanian Crown, awarded him the Medal of the Custodian of the Romanian Crown.
